Marriage Counseling Programs and Staff

Have you ever considered a visit to an African American marriage counseling service, perhaps in Montgomery or Baldwin? I have found some very good marriage help services here in these cities. In fact, I’ve often been impressed with how much the marriages have improved in these areas after I have visited them. But let’s take a look at what’s available in these two wonderful cities, before we examine marriage help from other states:

o Atlanta – The largest metropolitan area in Georgia has several very good marriage counseling centers. They are usually found in or near the large southern city of Atlanta. The largest of these is the Williams Street Treatment Center, which has a full-time caseworker on site twenty-four hours a day. It is operated by Pastors like Larry Wilcox and Beverly Frye. They are both highly experienced in Christian marriage counseling, and their focus is primarily on rebuilding trust between the married couple.

o Tuscaloosa – The University of Alabama has several very good marriage counseling programs. The Betty Stearns Center for Intermarried Relationships is located in Tuscaloosa, and is run by Mrs. Ann E. Stearns. This center is one of the most successful of its kind in the country. As a result of their efforts, about half of the marriages that are tried in Tuscaloosa end in divorce.

o Birmingham – If you are looking for the highest rated African American marriage counseling program anywhere in the U.S., I would have to say that the best one in the state of Alabama would be the Black and White marriage retreats. They are run by Amy Waterman, and they are led by African American professionals who know all of the ins and outs of the black family. Many times, the results are absolutely remarkable, because the couples that are brought to the Birmingham retreats can learn more about themselves than they could ever learn from a book.

o Montgomery – When it comes to an African American marriage counseling program, the first name that comes to mind is the one that I have just mentioned above in Tuscaloosa. The main office of the Rainbow Counseling Center is located in Montgomery. This organization is led by Corrine Johnson, who was raised in Montgomery. She has been a professional in marriage counseling for thirty years. The other members of the Rainbow Counseling Center staff are also from the area, which makes for a very close knit family for clients.

As you can see, there are many different places that you can go for your marriage counseling needs. I recommend going to a place that has a high success rate, and that has a reputation for truly helping people. This way, you will be sure that you are not putting yourself into a situation that may worsen your marriage. There are many places out there that can help you with marriage counseling. So take the time to look at your options, and make sure that the one that you choose fits your needs. You will be happy you did.
