Bible Based Marriage Counseling Questions

Biblical marriage counseling is not for the faint of heart. There are very tough words and very deep conversations that can be quite difficult to hear if you have been unprepared. As a therapist who sees couples struggling through these tough times, I see these questions all the time. I try to prepare people for these conversations as best I can.

Sometimes the best biblical marriage counseling comes from the simple questions. “What is your relationship with your spouse?” or “What are your needs?” When you start with the questions that bring up the issues you will know what to talk about. You won’t find yourself looking for advice on how to be an adulterer, how to justify adultery or finding fault in God for Adam’s transgression.

The most common biblical marriage counseling question I get is, “Can I still save my marriage?” Most people don’t even recognize this as a legitimate question. They think that since they are in love and have been married for a long time they know how things should go and that any problems they have can be worked out. This is why so many end up in a bad marriage without any real help to save their marriages.

The good news is that yes, you can save your marriage. This does not mean that you are automatically better off if you get a divorce. But it does mean that you can use biblical marriage counseling worksheets to learn how you can improve your marriage. It doesn’t mean that your marriage is doomed to failure. In fact, I often find people in these situations that actually want to save their marriages. If you get the right tools then you can make changes that will improve your marriage and make it better than it ever was.

There really is no secret. It’s just that people who try to put together answers in Bible studies and other areas of spirituality usually have no experience in marriage counseling. Because of this they simply don’t understand how to approach couples and get them to talk about their problems. If you were given an opportunity to work with someone who has years of experience in counseling relationships, you would be foolish not to take advantage of it. This is because the person knows how to change the lives of people and you can learn how to do the same.

So the bottom line is that if you are serious about saving your marriage than you need to do the research. You need to find out exactly what Bible studies have to offer you and how to apply them to your own situation. After you have done this you will have a great understanding of the biblical way of solving marriage problems. It’s just that most people don’t realize it. Once you have learned how biblical marriage counseling really works you can start saving your marriage today!
